Fairport

The Free City of Fairport lies on eastern coast of the Mionia peninsula.

Fairport Government
The Free City of Fairport is governed by the Council of Guildmasters and administrated by the Fairport Government Association.

Council of Masters
Consists of every guildmaster of a recognized guild with over 250 voting contracts. In practice, this number is closer to 3,000 voting contracts.

Fairport Government Association
The Fairport Government Association is a public guild that consists of all government employed citizens of Fairport. Belonging to the FGA excludes a person from being eligible to belong to any other guilds registered in Fairport.

Election Day - Winter Solstice
Every year on the Winter Solstice, the voting population of Fairport registers their votes with the Fairport Government Association. They do this by returning their signed voting contracts to the FGA office and casting them for the appropriate voting boxes.

In any given year, the voter will vote on the major government contracts and then give their support to a single guild to have a spot on the Council of Masters.

Uncast voting contracts are then auctioned to the public on the 8 day of Orn.

Laws and Customs in Fairport

  • All contracts are binding once signed, notarized and filed with the FGA. Should any part of the contract be found illegal, the person contracting the agreement shall be held responsible.
  • It is customary to include a buyout clause in all contracts for both the Offerer and the Acceptor. For goods this is generally 20% of the value of the contract. For services this is generally 30% of the value of the contract. Buyouts are customarily paid immediately after the filing of the contract.
  • The City Contract Enforcers enforce any contracts made with the city of Fairport as a party.
  • "Bribery" is rampant and tolerated except in the matter of defense contracts.
  • Defense Contracts always include a specified time period and never include buyout clauses. Failure to uphold a defense contract is grounds for exile or execution.
  • Unless specificially banned by a Council law, all goods and services are available for trade.
  • Banned services include Assassination and Theft.

Voting Contract
Each eligible person receives a voting contract in their name for each possible ballot measure generally consisting of the available government contracts and a Council of Guildmasters spot.

These contracts may be bought and sold as any other contract can be.

To be eligible to have a voting contract, the person must rent or own a domicile in Fairport for at least three (3) years.
